Rania Adwan

Strategist and Facilitator

Ms. Rania Adwan is a transformation and change expert, skilled at crafting frameworks for reform, adept at engineering effective stakeholder engagement processes, and masterful at convening and facilitating discussions where leaders envision and plan for a better, more equitable future. 


Advising police oversight agencies on the East and West Coast, Ms. Adwan was a strategy and policy advisor to the San Francisco Police Commission from 2016 – 2018 and more recently supported the Oakland Police Commission as its Chief of Staff. She has shepherded successful and sustainable change, crafting innovative practices to increase civic engagement, and advance community awareness.


Starting her career as a journalist and editor, Ms. Adwan has built on her research and storytelling skills to develop compelling narratives, solve complex problems and influence perspectives as a persuasive negotiator.


Ms. Adwan has been a diplomatic and trusted confidante to public and private sector leaders with experience spanning the Middle East, Asia, the US, UK and the Caribbean. 


Whether resolving crisis management issues, developing comprehensive and inclusive policies, coordinating institutional reconstruction, or spearheading cultural and behavioral change, Ms. Adwan demonstrates an exceptional ability to win trust, build consensus, craft actionable strategies, and redesign institutions to be more effective, efficient and equitable.


She holds a MS in Foreign Service and Security from Georgetown University and a BA in Journalism from Cardiff University.
