Darren Rewi

Cultural Services Consultant

Mr. Darren Rewi is one of Central Otago New Zealand’s most senior kaumatua, and is dedicated to his community. His work ensures local Māori have a voice within the global community, and that voice is heard. Darren acts as the conduit between organizations and Kai Tahu. He holds the mayoral appointed position of the Queenstown Lakes District Council Welcoming Committee Chair, advocating for the 63 identified ethnicities in the area, including Indigenous cultures and vulnerable communities. Darren draws on experience in the corporate, governance and not-for-profit fields as well as his position as kaumātua, business owner, and family man to encourage and lead.  Darren is of the Ngāi Tahu Tribe of the South Island, and the Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Porou tribes of the North Island.
